Our Waters Explore the River Axe and Beyond
Weston Angling Association is proud to manage some of the finest fishing waters in the Weston-super-Mare area. From the peaceful stretches of the River Axe to the meandering channels of the Old Axe, our waters provide a rich and varied fishing experience for anglers of all ages and abilities. Members and day ticket anglers have access to a wide choice of pegs across scenic farmland and riverbanks, with dedicated parking and signed entry points for easy access. Whether you’re a junior picking up a rod for the first time, a pleasure angler seeking a quiet day by the water, or a match angler looking for competitive sport, our waters have something for everyone. The River Axe is home to a healthy mix of coarse species, including roach, dace, perch, bream, skimmers, chub, eels, and pike. Its blend of straights, bends, and backwaters creates natural variety, offering both silver fish sport on the pole or waggler, and predator action for those targeting larger specimens. Seasonal changes add to the challenge and excitement, with summer providing fast bites in shallower runs and winter drawing fish into deeper, steadier areas. By fishing responsibly and respecting farmland, our members help protect the tradition of angling on the Axe. We ask all visitors to use the designated gates, avoid climbing fences, and follow club rules to keep access open for future generations.
